Lake George, N.Y. — Looking for a pup-friendly place to camp? All good dogs go to Upstate New York.
Lake George RV Park in the Adirondacks has been named the best place in the U.S. to go camping with a dog. The award-winning camping resort in scenic Lake George won the No. 1 spot on a ranking by The Dyrt, a camping platform.
To create its list, The Dyrt partnered with artificial intelligence to comb through its extensive database of reviews and find the best places for four-legged campers. Lake George RV Park topped the list, outranking canine-friendly campgrounds from Ohio to Arizona.
“The serene atmosphere and beautiful surroundings of Lake George set the stage for a truly relaxing and immersive dog retreat,” The Dyrt wrote in its ranking. “Lake George RV Park’s large range of services and amenities and expansive play area make it an ideal location for a getaway for humans and their four-legged friends.”
Just a 10-minute drive from the southern tip of one of New York’s most beloved lakes, Lake George RV Park is sprawled across a 120-acre park filled with spots for RVs as well as rentable park trailers and cabins. The park is also home to Cascade Cove — a water park made up of a 38-person hot tub, a swimming pool and splash pad — and a playhouse that offers live, air-conditioned entertainment.
But what makes Lake George RV Park such a great place for dogs? The park has a play area just for dogs.
Charlie’s Bark Park, housed within the campground, offers dogs 2 acres of off-leash, fenced-in fun for large and small pups. It features a dog spray fountain, a pet treat vending area, shaded walking trails and an indoor dog washing station, according to Lake George RV Park’s website.
Dyrt campers gave the campground rave reviews, calling Charlie’s Bark Park the best dog park in the nation.
