In a bold stride towards nurturing creativity and propelling innovation in the Indian textile and fashion realm, INVIYA®, India’s premier spandex brand, marks a pivotal milestone as it has announced the launch of the “INVIYA Emerging Fashionista (IEF)” design competition, in collaboration with 18 National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFTs) across India.
With roots dating back to 2012, INVIYA® stands tall as the country’s sole indigenous spandex label. The brand proudly unveiled a remarkable collaboration that underscores its strong commitment to pushing the boundaries of style and sustainability in the fashion industry.
The core objective of this design competition is to synergize creativity, innovation, and sustainable fashion, harnessing the dynamic potential of INVIYA® Spandex in fabric design. Today, the company takes immense pride in its achievements, boasting a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant located in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, and having emerged as the largest spandex supplier in the Indian market over the past 11 years.
It’s pertinent to mention here that INVIYA® Spandex, often referred to as Elastane or Elastomer, offers a versatile canvas for innovation. It finds use in an array of applications, from undergarments and sportswear to denim, dresses, and activewear. This partnership with premier NIFT institutions signifies their endeavour to inspire and challenge young designers to explore endless possibilities and redefine the horizons of design.
One notable facet of this competition lies in the unique opportunity INVIYA offers to the selected 10 students. Each participant, distinguished by a distinct code, will collaborate directly with INVIYA’s value chain partners – renowned fabric mills. These students will be provided with spandex-based fabrics, enabling them to craft ensembles that seamlessly integrate spandex with other textiles, such as cotton, polyester, rayon, and more.
Steering ahead, the timeline for the “INVIYA® Emerging Fashionista” Design Competition is outlined as follows:
- Registration Opened: August 14th
- Deadline for Submission (campus round): August 31st
- Selection of Top 3 Entries per Campus: September 15th
- Announcement of Finalists: September 30th
- Ensemble Readiness: October 31st
- Grand Finale: November
The culmination of this competition will witness the acknowledgment of the top three winners, who will receive cash prizes. Furthermore, the company will recognize 10 finalists with certificates of distinction, along with a special Certificate of Appreciation for the top three entries from each NIFT campus.
