KWU Coaches Luncheons

Kansas Wesleyan University

The Kansas Wesleyan Coaches Luncheon Series returns for the 2023-24 season with a new format and other updates. The Coaches Luncheon Series is presented by the Jeff Wells Agency of American Family Insurance.

There will be four luncheons in 2023-24, and the luncheons will be split between two different locations – Martinelli’s in downtown Salina, and at Buffalo Wild Wings on South Ninth Street.

The first luncheon will be at Buffalo Wild Wings, 2588 South Ninth Street, on Wednesday, August 23 starting at 11:30 a.m. It will feature the fall sport coaches – Matt Myers (football), Garrett Young (men’s and women’s cross country), Joe Schwartz (women’s soccer), Bruce Palmbaum (men’s soccer) and Jessica Biegert (women’s volleyball). Additionally, any new coaches and staff to the KWU athletics program will be introduced.

The menu at Buffalo Wild Wings will consist of a buffet of boneless wings, fries, potato wedges, mozzarella sticks and baked cauliflower wings. Drinks (iced tea, sodas, water) will also be included.

The second luncheon will be on Wednesday, November 8, at 11:30 a.m. at Martinelli’s, and will consist of the traditional family style meal along with the programming for the event. The November luncheon will feature men’s and women’s basketball (Anthony Monson and Ryan Showman), men’s and women’s indoor track (Kyle Hiser) and esports (Ethan Weis).

The third luncheon will be on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 11:30 a.m., again at Martinelli’s. It will feature men’s volleyball (Dustin Sahlmann), competitive cheer and dance (Claire Schmidt), baseball (Bill Neale), softball (Ryan Cooper), and men’s and women’s bowling (Herb Halinski).

The fourth and final luncheon will be on Wednesday, April 24, back at Buffalo Wild Wings, at 11:30 a.m., and will feature men’s and women’s golf (Coleman Houk), men’s and women’s tennis (Brian Vancuren), men’s and women’s outdoor track (Kyle Hiser) and flag football (Melinda Nguyen).

Tickets for all four luncheons are $15 each and can be purchased online at www.kwucoyotes.com/tickets . Seats for any luncheon can be reserved by contacting the KWU Athletics Office at 785.833.4400.
