Fortunately, it’s our job at Best Products to test out new gear to see if it lives up to the hype so you can avoid the hassle of getting sucked into a digital rabbit hole.

Our team spends the year testing new products that catch our attention, including things like must-have tech, trendy self-care items, everyday fitness gear, and our favorite viral things to stumble across on TikTok. We reviewed thousands of products in 2023, sifting out the ones that are worth skipping and hand-selecting the best to include in our buying guides and reviews — but only the top winners made it into our annual Best of the Best list.

Aspire 3 PC Laptop

Many low-cost laptops and Chromebooks skimp on up-to-date hardware and connectivity features, but not the Acer Aspire 3. The Windows 11 laptop became our top pick under $500 by sporting a sharp display, a rich set of wired and wireless connectivity tools, and a lightweight build. QM8 Smart 4K TV

The TCL QM8 is our pick for the best big-screen TV of 2023 because it over-delivers in design, performance, and picture quality for a product in its price category (it costs much less than a comparable OLED TV). Its Quantum dot display panel with mini LED backlighting and thousands of local dimming zones produces incredible maximum brightness without skimping on contrast and color accuracy. Although the Apple iPhone 14 Pro Silicone Case with MagSafe I was gifted was comfortable to hold, it didn’t fit my storage needs — that’s when I found this Spigen case on Amazon. The exterior card slot has enough space to hold up to three cards comfortably, sparing me from bringing my wallet everywhere. There’s an abundance of vacuums on the market, but they can’t compete with Dyson’s latest innovation. The princely price tag is worth it for several reasons: I grew up in a Dyson household, so I’ve experienced their products’ long-term durability and quality, and this smart vacuum is no exception. Dust is no match for the new V15 vacuum — it comes with several head attachments, including the Fully Optic cleaner head to grab every dust particle on my hard floors. In contrast, the Digital Motorbar cleaner head tackles carpets and hard floors, while the main attachment is also stellar and works for regular use, but these detailer brush heads are next-level good. Dyson is also highly regarded in the air purifier space, and their vacuum being equipped with a HEPA filter is a dream for someone like me who normally suffers from allergies. Grab and Go

We reach for this Dirt Devil Grab and Go at least 3 times a day, if not more. It sits charging in the corner of the kitchen countertop, waiting to spring into action after every meal when the floor and high chair are inevitably covered in a sea of crumbs. It only weighs 1.12 pounds but has strong suction and can clean out all the deep, dark, you-don’t-want-to-know-what’s-lurking-in-there crevices of the high chair and the car seat. We love it for a car clean-up as well. It’s easy to empty, easy to charge, and easy to use. Makes living with toddlers and small children a good 10 to 15% less chaotic. Duo Standing Desk

As someone who lives in a tiny space, I was confident I wouldn’t find a fairly priced standing desk that doesn’t take up too much room in my home until I got my hands on this epic desk. The Branch Standing Duo Desk is compact, relatively easy to assemble on your own, comfy to work at while sitting or standing all day, and comes in expensive-looking finishes. The standing mechanism is smooth, quiet, and intuitive to use. This desk also doubles as my vanity and fits my massive Riki Love Riki Tall Vanity mirror over 2 feet tall, my Macbook Pro, keyboard, mouse, and other shenanigans living on my desk without feeling overwhelmed. The Dresser

I initially thought I could survive in a small space without a dresser, but after a few months, I realized it wasn’t a home goods sacrifice I could continue making. As someone obsessed with the elegant simplicity of Thuma’s wooden bed frame with headboard, I knew their dresser would equally be worth the investment. The modular drawers are made of upcycled rubberwood and are surprisingly easy and fast to assemble without any tools, like screws or a power drill. Many reviewers say it took them 5 minutes to put together, but since I’m a noob, it took me around 15 minutes, and honestly, it’s such a welcome adult upgrade from my old Ikea dresser. — N.S.

The Backyard Discovery Sterling swing set was by far the best swingset I’ve tested in years. It has a slide, climbing wall, and four different types of swings. Our testers love the open area below the play house, putting a sandbox right there, but other families have added gardens or tables. Tweens and teen boys smell awful — it’s a simple fact. It turns out that Julie Bowen (a mom on Modern Family and IRL) wanted to do something about that, so she founded JB Skrub, which includes the JB Skrub body wash that’s ph balanced to help de-funk your child.
