Shayna Steele is said to “unleash enough voltage to light up the West End” of London.
On Thursday, September 22nd, she will be unleashed on The Myrna Loy stage beginning at 7:30 p.m. to make her Montana debut and kick off The Myrna Loy’s 2022-23 season.
“I mostly sing new songs for the album that’s coming out next year,” she says.
Her latest song she wrote during the pandemic deals with the human connection between people.
“I am so grateful to be able to perform in front of an audience again and use my music for healing,” she said.
Steele has been called an “R&B diva” and has been called a jazz and pseudo-jazz singer, but she calls herself a “soul singer who literally sings from the heart.”
She also considers herself a multi-genre singer.
“I grew up on Motown and rhythm and blues,” but her exposure to jazz in New York City changed her music dramatically. She survived 9/11, became a parent, and so has her life experience leading up to going through the pandemic.
Her distinctive and powerful voice can be heard singing in the background of Bette Midler, Rihanna, Moby and Kelly Clarkson. She has also spent eight years as a Broadway ensemble member of ‘Rent’ and ‘Hairspray’ and has sung on several film soundtracks.
Steele’s third album, “Rise,” reached number three on the US iTunes jazz charts, and Snarky Puppy featured Steele and her hard drive on the band’s Grammy-winning album, “Family, Dinner, Volume.” I chose the song “Gone Under”. 1.
Tickets are $25 and are available at 15 N. Ewing St. (https://themyrnaloy.com/). Please call 406-443-0287 for more information.
