Bhopal: Bollywood couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt have been stopped from praying at Ujjain’s Shree Mahakaleshwar temple due to protests by activists in Bajrang Dar.
According to police, the couple were supposed to hold prayers on Tuesday, but the temple committee, along with the district administration and the police, had put in place an elaborate security system.
However, Bajrang Dal activists opposed the actor’s participation based on alleged statements made by Ranbir Kapoor in 2011 regarding the beef issue.

A video of the incident, in which right-wing activists are protesting, appeared on social media on Wednesday.
“Due to security concerns, the couple returned from Ujjain to Indore without praying at the temple as a result of protests. I prayed at the temple,” said an Ujjain police official.
Meanwhile, police detained one of the protesters after he got into an altercation with a police officer on duty.
“We will not allow Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt to enter the temple because they like beef. leader Ankit Chaube said.
According to sources, Ranbir and Alia stayed at the official residence of collector Ashish Singh in Ujjain district before returning to Indore.
They added that the collector is a friend of film director Ayan Mukerji.
The director said he felt great after praying at a temple before the film’s release, but said nothing about the protests.
