Liss-Riordan met with dozens of supporters in the backyard of his Somerville home on Saturday morning. She told them her campaign coordinated about 70 events across the state in the past few days as she strives to get her voters to make her case.
“Wherever we go, the message resonates. Workers, the public, consumers, [for] Someone who knows how to stand up to corporate America,” Rhys Riordan told supporters.
Campbell addressed supporters at the campaign’s kickoff event in Hyde Park on Saturday morning, casting himself as an underdog opposing Lis Riordan’s campaign.
Liss-Riordan ended up spending at least $5 million, most of it with her own money, The Globe reports.
“I have to admit we’re facing tough odds,” Campbell told the crowd of supporters.
Campbell is supported by Super PAC, affiliated with the Massachusetts Environmental Federation. This external group does not have the same donation limits as political campaigns.
Both candidates have stalwarts in their corners.
Liss-Riordan’s supporters include Senator Elizabeth Warren, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, and former Boston Acting Mayor Kim Jenny.
Campbell’s supporters include U.S. Congressman Ayanna Pressley, U.S. Senator Ed Markey, and a former official in the Biden and Obama administrations who ended their campaign for attorney general on Tuesday and threw out her support. Quentin Palfrey is included. She is also assisted by Healy. .
Healy, Presley and Palfrey performed at Campbell’s Hyde Park event on Saturday. A UMass Amherst/WCVB-TV poll released Thursday showed a close race between Democratic candidates.
Liss-Riordan leads Campbell by one point in the polls. Liss-Riordan supported her with 29% of respondents, while she supported Campbell with 28%.
Whoever wins Tuesday’s Democratic election will face Bourne’s attorney, James R. McMahon III, in November’s general election. McMahon is running as an independent in the Republican primary.

In Somerville, Connolly told Liss-Riodan supporters that Democrats would likely control every major state government in this year’s election. He suggested that Rhys Riordan would be well suited to serve as Attorney General in such an environment.

Along with civil servants at the Somerville event, Lis Riordan’s supporters included Daphne Joknik. Daphne Joknik met the candidate while the pair were studying in India during their college days.
Jochnick praised Liss-Riordan for representing workers against big business and said she would make a “great people’s lawyer”.
“She’s exceptional for having a special interest,” Joknik said.
