Detroit Lakes (KDLM) – Detroit Country Club (DCC) has hired a new General Manager/Head Professional.
The Detroit Country Club board recently completed an extensive search for new candidates to take over operations after both Mark Holm and Chris Smith resigned from their positions at the club, appointing Pine Grove Country Club’s current head professional One Thomas “Tom” Dolby announced. At Iron Mountain, MI will be the new General Manager/Head Professional.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to build on what Mark and Chris have accomplished and bring a new direction and fresh perspective to our operations at both courses,” the board said in a statement.
A native of Minnesota, Dolby has spent time in the area and has participated in the Pine to Palm Tournament in the past. In addition, DCC hired Dolby’s wife, her Kaylnn Dolby. Kaylnn is a Class ‘A’ She is a PGA Professional and at Pine Grove she works alongside Tom as her Teaching Professional and is primarily responsible for running the Junior Program. She said, “We have found a ‘team’ that brings new direction and perspective to our course and fits nicely into the availability of the Pine to Palm and Lakeview courses. She is very lucky to have both of them on board. ‘ said the board.

We have some very exciting news to share. As you know, this past season was for both Markholm and Chris Smith his final season at DCC. The club has been very fortunate to have both Mark and Chris over the years. We owe them an incredible amount of debt for all their time and what they have done for the club. That person is Thomas “Tom” Dolby, the current head professional at Pine Grove Country Club in Iron Mountain, Michigan. Tom is from Minnesota, has spent a fair amount of time in the area, and has connections with friends and family in the area. Tom is familiar with our courses and community as he has participated in Pine to Palm tournaments and other events at his DCC. Plus, not only do you get Tom, but you get Tom’s very capable and talented spouse, Kaylene Dolby. Kaylnn is also his PGA Professional in Class ‘A’, working with Tom at Pine Grove as his Teaching Professional, primarily responsible for running the Junior Program.
