New York-based entertainment law firm Levine Plotkin & Menin, which specializes in arts, entertainment and media transactions, has opened an office in Los Angeles.
LPM’s expansion builds on its existing footprint in the region, with years of collaboration with studios, creatives and independent producers based in the region. The LA office is consistent with the company’s mission to better serve existing clients and projects and to expand its film and television operations generally.
LPM’s recent work includes “Hamilton,” from on-stage development to its premiere as a movie on Disney+. Producer of Netflix’s “The Prom” directed by Ryan Murphy. Longtime client Gloria Steinem in connection with the autobiographical film The Glorias starring Julianne Moore.

As part of its expansion in Los Angeles, LPM has announced the addition of David Schachter (top, left) to its attorney team. Schachter joins as a partner and manages the LA office.
With experience representing acting talent, writers, directors and producers in film and television, Schacter builds on LPM’s expertise in these areas. His recent successes include his acting writer and screenwriter Tuffy his Brodesser his Akner. His bestselling novel “Fleishman Is in Trouble” was sold to ABC Signature and FX in a competitive bidding process. The limited series adaptation of the book recently wrapped filming and will premiere on Hulu’s FX, with Brodesser-Akner serving as series creator and showrunner.
Schachter also represents Scott Mescudi (also known as recording artist Kid Cudi) on his film and television endeavors. Recent deals include Mescudi’s multi-year development and production deal with BRON Studios on his single, Mad Solar Productions. Mescudi’s lead role in the upcoming John Woo action movie Silent Night. Also planned is his Netflix animated project “Entergalactic,” in which Mescudi will voice the lead role and executive produce.
