not so I use YouTube Music for my daily listening. As someone who watches a ridiculous amount of videos along with music, I appreciate YouTube Premium, which lets me enjoy both ad-free for $12/month.
But it’s not just about bundling deals. YouTube Music has a solid user experience and decent features. When I went to the beach with my partner recently, our rejuvenation levels were high, but we lacked internet access so I decided to play one of my favorite features of him, offline his mixtapes. I remembered.
Sure, downloading music to your phone is easy. But how often do we forget to download a new playlist before taking a long flight or heading off for an off-grid adventure? Until I was in the mood, I rarely remember. With offline mixtapes enabled, YouTube Music automatically downloads playlists to your phone that combine longtime favorites with current obsessions.
How to use offline mixtape

It’s important to understand that YouTube and YouTube Music are separate apps for smartphones. If you use the same Google account, the two apps will interact. For example, if you watch a Beyoncé video on YouTube and hit the like button, the song will be added to a huge number of playlists on YouTube Music with all likes.
All that aside, here’s how to set up an offline mixtape on YouTube Music to give you personalized, downloaded songs forever. (Well, forever, as long as you keep paying for your subscription.) Open the YouTube Music app, libraryTap. download.
A blue slider may appear near the top of the screen. Use this tool to choose how many songs you want YouTube Music to keep downloaded to your device, from 1 to 100. The app estimates the length of time and storage required for offline playlists. If you don’t see the blue slider, gear icon toggle in the upper right corner Download offline mixtapes To the right.
The menu page that appears when you select the gear icon shows available storage and the last time your offline mixtape was updated. Are you trying to save mobile data? From our experience with offline mixtapes, our short playlist of about 20 songs contains the latest bangers that are constantly rotating. As you expand your playlist closer to the 100-song maximum, the ignored tracks will start reappearing. I appreciate the lack of discovery elements in offline mixtapes.
