opinion:
As the midterm elections approached and the cost of everyday Americans continued to rise, the weaknesses of America’s new lead-from-behind approach became apparent to the world.
In a futile attempt to curb soaring gas prices and avoid midterm elections, the president and the leaders of the free world have fallen to OPEC’s knees to demand more oil production.
Showing the essence of their respect for President Biden, OPEC+ members have since announced cuts of 2 million barrels per day, rather than increased production. Biden’s response was to release it again from the Strategic Oil Reserve. This was cut by almost half during his two-year tenure.
The president knows what higher costs mean for Democrats’ hopes for November, but they haven’t delivered yet.
Under Biden, we saw record gas prices and the highest inflation in 40 years. We are heading into winter when home heating costs are at their highest in over a decade. These are the kitchen table issues that Americans care about, and what ultimately influences votes.
The simple continuation of the Trump administration’s energy policy would prioritize domestic production, create thousands of jobs, boost the economy, reduce reliance on foreign energy, and lower energy costs for Americans. Had he been connected, Mr. Biden could have circumvented party policy entirely. The greatest political obstacle.
But Biden and the Democrats are obsessed with their climate policies despite the fact that they are putting Americans in financial trouble. They call themselves environmental saviors, but when the curtain is closed, it’s clear that the left’s climate change policies are dangerous.
Democrats will not hold back from their goal of ending fossil fuel production in America. Unfortunately for them, the Biden administration itself predicts that global energy demand will increase by 50% by his 2050. Global natural gas demand will grow by at least 40% by 2050, and coal will rise from 8 billion tonnes per year to nearly 9 billion tonnes in 2050. Fossil energy also predicts that he will provide 82% of the world’s energy in 2050.
That is the problem of the “environmental friend” on the left.
America produces fossil fuels that have far less environmental impact than countries like China and Russia. For every tonne of emissions that the US cuts, China has increased its emissions sevenfold. The Biden administration’s fossil fuel war provides increased demand and incentives to countries that are among the worst environmental offenders, including China, to increase fossil fuel production.
Moreover, left-wing energy policies are damaging the country. Rising costs are forcing Americans to choose between filling up their gas tanks, eating dinner, keeping their homes warm during the winter, or putting their Christmas presents under the tree.
Hundreds of thousands of Californians were hit by a power outage last month, and fossil fuels kept the power grid running. At one point in the crisis, “renewables” accounted for less than 10% of his electricity generated in the state. This is just the beginning.
New England is gearing up for winter power outages when temperatures reach frigid levels. We are seeing entire regions of people in the world’s most prosperous country run out of power to their homes thanks to this administration’s failed policies. Biden’s left is trying to sell the American public a world of extraordinary fantasy without fossil fuels.
Moreover, as much as the Left pretends to care about issues such as threats to democracy and human rights, it is as much about putting money in the pockets of dictators if it helps them win elections. Earlier this year, the Biden administration returned to importing oil from Venezuela, which had been done for only one month in the past three years.
The left has been too eager to blame the Trump administration for its ties to Saudi Arabia following the murder of Jamal Khashoggi. Still, Mr. Biden has no problem begging Saudi Arabia for oil and not even taking a peek from those within his party to help the Democratic Party’s re-election chances.
The Democratic climate policy is nothing more than a ruse to convince the American public that the Democrats are the morally superior party and the party that cares about the future of their children. reality? Their policies undermine America’s economic prosperity and national security.
Democratic elites like John Kerry and the Obamas will continue to zip around the world in their private jets, leaving the rest of us to suffer the consequences of their disastrous climate policies. , starting at one rung of the ladder below Reformer. Nothing is clearer than the dangerous climate policies of the Left.
