CAIRO: Saudi Arabia has launched a unique competition as part of its ‘Year of Saudi Coffee’ initiative, inviting musicians to compose songs that combine the sounds of instruments with the sounds of making Saudi coffee.
The ‘Saudi Coffee Music’ competition, offering a total prize pool of 150,000 riyals, has been announced by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Culture. The ministry invited interested musicians to visit the link (engage.moc.gov.sa/yosc_music) and set November 15 as the deadline for registration and application.
The winner will be announced on December 29, with the top winner receiving SR100,000 and the second winner receiving SR50,000, Riyadh reported.
Saudi Arabia has designated 2022 as the “Year of Saudi Coffee” under its quality of life program in line with its ambitious development plan, Saudi Vision 2030.
The Year of Saudi Coffee is a nationwide initiative to celebrate Saudi coffee through various events and contests.
Last February, the Ministry of Culture renamed Arabic coffee to Saudi coffee in all restaurants and coffee shops in the kingdom.
Coffee is a popular drink in Saudi Arabia.
