HYDERABAD: In a big relief to those living near pubs in Hyderabad, the Telangana High Court on Monday issued an order that pubs should not play loud music between 10pm and 6am. . Judge Kanneganti Lalitha issued the order in a warrant petition filed by the Jubilee Hills Residents Clean and Green Association, headed by Chairman Venkata Ramana Suryadevara, and another petitioner for the disturbance caused by the pub.
The High Court expressed dissatisfaction with pubs being allowed near residential areas and educational institutions and sought to find out which excise rules permit such practices. to file a counter-argument, and set out the basis for permitting pubs in residential areas. It also stipulated that pubs only serve liquor in the evenings.
The High Court has issued a notice to the Police Commissioners of Hyderabad, Saibarabad and Ratchakonda instructing them to submit a response on the matter detailing the number of cases registered against which pubs in violation of the rules. .
