Pagani has unveiled its latest hypercar, the Pagani Utopia. The car delivers impressive performance with 864 horsepower and a massive 1100 Nm of torque.
Weighing in at just 1,280 kg, it’s powered by a twin-turbo Mercedes-AMG V12, complete with 21 or 22-inch forged alloys and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes.
The 6-liter biturbo Pagani V12 engine, built especially for Pagani by Mercedes-AMG, is the result of a huge amount of development work. It delivers 864 bhp and, above all, an impressive 1100 Nm of torque. It revs higher, is more flexible and stronger while meeting the strictest emissions regulations, including those in force in California.
The choice of transmission was a philosophical one. It’s not an efficient dual-clutch transmission, but it’s heavy and takes away the driver’s ability to set the pace of the car’s acceleration. Instead, Pagani turned to Xtrac, the most prestigious motorsport and high-performance automotive transmission manufacturer, to develop the fastest shifting his gearbox with helical gears. Compact, lightweight and laterally mounted for optimized center of gravity.
