Household Hazardous Waste Event
Redwood Waste Solutions will host its first free mobile household hazardous waste event on August 3 and 4, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at Caspar Transfer Station, 14000 Prairie Way, Mendocino.

Kids Art & Talent Show
The Fort Bragg Library invites children and teens to perform non-competitively Kids Art & Talent Show with music, dance, comedy, magic, etc. Summer Art, Jokebook, and Super Short Stories will also be displayed.

Friday Free Clothing Pop-Up Swap
Every Friday (weather permitting) from 11-4 p.m., the Fort Bragg Food Bank crew of staff and volunteers will be out front at 910 North Franklin Street sorting clothing for the Friday Free Clothing Pop-Up Swap, open to clients and community members to come to look through and take home – all for free.

Little River Museum trains on display
Little River Museum antique train and toy exhibit is on display Saturdays and Sundays 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It’s the little white house at the north end of the Van Damme State Park curve 8185 Highway One. The little white house hides the two-story assembly hall of the Good Templars. Summer exhibits include the Little River Pioneer Cemetery and Civil War Veterans map, Pomo Indian, bottle dump, local wildlife, the train exhibit, and more. Admission is FREE.
Temple of Kwan Tai Free Docent Tours
Visit the Temple of Kwan Tai, California State Historical Landmark #927, built in 1852. Learn about the local area’s Chinese heritage and historical presence with their free docent tours Saturday and Sunday. The Temple is also just a peaceful spot to come and contemplate in the heart of Mendocino. Try fortune sticks to see what fortune will be revealed. Free tours are offered Saturday from noon to 3 and Sunday from 11 am to 2 pm.

Caltrans Dump Day Event in Willits
Caltrans District 1, the County of Mendocino, and Solid Wastes of Willits announced the Clean California Dump Day event held Sunday, Aug. 6, at the Willits Transfer Station. This Dump Day event is limited to furniture, appliances, off-rim cars, light truck tires (limit nine per load), mattresses, green waste, and large/bulky residential items. Caltrans District 1 partnered with the Mattress Recycling Council and Castle Tire to recycle mattresses and tires dropped off at this event. Please separate recyclables, trash, green waste, appliances, and metal to help the line move faster. This event cannot accept hazardous waste, electronics, business waste, construction debris, commercial tires, and tires on rims. For more information about acceptable items, call Solid Wastes of Willits at (707) 459-4778. Hours are 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. or until capacity is reached.
Mobile CRV Redemption
The Redwood Waste Solutions’ new Mobile CRV Redemption Facility is on Sundays at Mendocino K-8 School from 8:30 to 5:30 and on Mondays at the Caspar Community Center from 8:30 to 5:30. Alongside the mobile operation, the search for a permanent location for CRV Redemption in the Fort Bragg area will continue.

National Lighthouse Day
The Point Arena Lighthouse will celebrate National Lighthouse Day on Monday, August 7, with free admission to the Indoor Museum, Outdoor Museum, and Light Station Store. Tower Tours will be available to guests six years and older. National Lighthouse Day was established to “honor the beacon of light that, for hundreds of years, symbolized safety and security for ships and boats at sea,” according to the National Lighthouse Society.
Weekly Men’s Circle
The Weekly Men’s Circle meets Monday evenings at the Caspar Community Center. This group is associated with the International Mankind Project, a nonprofit training and education organization. Mendocino Food Pantry
A weekly food pantry every Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. is held at the Mendocino Presbyterian Church (Preston Hall) on Main Street in Mendocino.
Albion Food Pantry
The food pantry will be open Tuesdays from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. It is located in Albion behind the Albion Grocery and the U.S. Post Office.
Mendocino Presbyterian Community Tuesday Hot Meal
On Tuesday from 1:30-2:30 PM, we host a delicious free hot meal in Preston Hall for anyone who desires one. All are welcome.

Games Night at Spring Commons
Transition Town Mendocino Coast and the Larry Spring Museum in Fort Bragg host Games Night at Spring Commons. If you can, bring a game or two that you like and know how to play, there will be young kids and adults there, so you might want to bring kids’ games or ones for adults. Bring board games, a deck of cards, checkers, or chess, or bring some chalk to draw on the sidewalk or make a Hop Scotch game. Or bring some string to play Cat’s Cradle, a yo-yo, marbles, hula hoops, or jump ropes. Game night will be held outside the Spring Commons next to the museum at 225 E. Redwood Ave. in Fort Bragg. It is FREE. Donating any amount to the Larry Spring Museum is appreciated but not required.

Mendocino Coast Model Railroad members meet at Laurel Deli in Fort Bragg at 7:45 am each Wednesday. Guests and/or potential new members are welcome.
